Telemarkstunet

Telemarkstunet consists of eight buildings, all copies of local old, traditional buildings. At Telemarkstunet you can find buildings with different functions, everything from a stable to a traditional bakery.

A copy of Telemarkstunet was erected in Lillehammer in connection with the Winter Olympics 1994.

Outside you will find goats and activities for children. There is a nice hiking path, about 2 km walk, down to Lake Totak and back. If the weather is nice you can have a swim there.

See what your can find in the different buildings in the summer:

Eldhuset

Eldhuset is a small traditional bakery with a wood fired stone oven. The bakery is in use from the middle of June to early August every year, selling fresh bread and pastry.

Årestoga

This is a copy of a medieval longhouse. These buildings had no windows, the light coming through an opening in the roof. The smoke from the hearth was also let out this opening. These longhouses traditionally had an earthen floor, and a hearth positioned centrally in the middle of the room.

The Årestoga that can be found at Telemarkstunet is constructed out of timber, and is much bigger than those preserved from medieval time. There is a heated stone floor and electricity.

A small kitchen has also been installed for simple meals and food serving.

We use Årestoga for parties and assemblies. The timber walls and wood carvings create a special atmosphere. Årestoga is very wells suited for birthdays and gatherings and can easily room 40- 50 people.

Every month during the winter there is a folk music concert in Årestoga.

In summer there is a café which serves coffee, cakes, ice-cream etc. Every Saturday and Sunday at 3pm there are concerts open to all.

Låven

This is a reconstructed traditional barn, only with windows and electricity. Låven houses a handicrafts sales exhibition. Everything from tapestry to herbal cosmetics, ceramics and rosepainting (rosemaling) traditional Norwegian décor painting, can be bought here, all made by local artists. The exhibition is open in the summer, Winter and Easter holidays and four weekends before Christmas.

Gardsjordstoga

Gardjordstoga houses an exhibition every summer. Inger Kolsrud Buraas has an open workshop and exhibition and sale of traditional silver works.

Loftet

Both floors in this small building are available for hire as workshops. You will find Ingolf Endresen, a local silversmith here.

Stallen

Stallen is the Norwegian name for stable. But the horse has moved out!

In Stallen you will find a traditional flat-bread bakery. Karin and Torbjørn make the traditional “lefse” and “flatbrød”. Both baked on electric griddle.
